What this site is

The Q-Day Index is a probabilistic model built from published evidence about quantum hardware and cryptanalytic resource estimates. Its output is a research result: an interval, with the percentiles the evidence can resolve and an honest statement of the ones it cannot.

It is not a prediction you should rely on, and it is not advice. Not investment advice, not legal advice, not cryptographic or security advice. Decisions about migrating your own systems are yours, and should be made with people who know your systems.

Our model and other people's

Where this site shows outlooks from other institutions — expert surveys, migration deadlines — those are shown as context and are attributed to their source. They use different methods, answer different questions, and are never inputs to our model, averaged with it, or presented as agreeing with it. Each carries its own caveat where it appears.

Using the material

You may read, quote and cite the published figures and methodology, with attribution and a link to the version you are citing. Every published model version keeps a permanent address, so a citation can point at the exact result you saw rather than at whatever the model says later.

Please do not present a figure from this site without the uncertainty that came with it. A percentile stripped of its censoring rate is a different claim from the one we made.

The desktop client

The QRP desktop client is published by Elkan Electronic LTD as a binary release. It is a client for a QRP backend, which is deployed separately under a design-partner engagement; downloading the client does not grant access to a backend.

The builds are not code-signed, which is why the download page explains what your operating system will say about them. Where a licence is presented with or inside the software, that licence governs your use of it.

Availability and links

We aim to keep the site up and correct, but we do not guarantee that it is available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or withdraw material — including a published model version, which would then be shown as withdrawn rather than removed.

This site links to external sources: papers, standards bodies, institutional publications. Those pages are not ours, we do not control what they say next, and a link is a citation rather than an endorsement.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Elkan Electronic LTD is not liable for loss arising from reliance on the research output or from use of the software. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Governing law

Bulgarian law applies, and the Bulgarian courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
